Used Tractor Hitch Stabilizer
97 available products
A tool that swings at the field's edge, arms hitting the rear tires during turning, a plow that no longer holds its line: the stabilizer is no longer doing its job. At TMC Bejenne in Naintré, we recover stabilizers along with their pins, clevises, and tensioners from every dismantled tractor. These are genuine manufacturer parts, inspected in our workshop, ready to ship and offered at discounted prices, like our entire lifting range: lower arms, upper arms, and support brackets.

Tractor Lift Arm Stabilizer: Its Function
The stabilizer connects each lower lift arm to the tractor and limits its lateral movement. When locked, it keeps the implement aligned for transport and precise tasks such as seeding or hoeing. In free position, it allows controlled lateral play for towed implements that must follow the tractor when turning. Without it, the arms hit the rear wheels, the hitch deforms, and the risk of tipping increases on slopes.
Rigid, Chain, or Slotted Bar Stabilizers
- Rigid Stabilizer: adjustable link with threaded rod, the most common on agricultural tractors.
- Automatic Stabilizer: locks automatically when the lift raises, releases in working position.
- Chain Stabilizer: stabilization chain and tensioner, often fitted on older tractors and micro-tractors.
- Slotted Bar: adjustment by pin through a series of holes, simple and robust, found on many Massey Ferguson and John Deere tractors.
- Hydraulic Stabilizer: cylinder controlled from the cab.
- Accessories: pins, clevises, mounting brackets on the axle housing.
Stabilizing Chain and Stabilizer Tensioner
The chain stabilizer remains the oldest solution. Its chain connects the arm to the axle housing and is adjusted by a screw tensioner that sets the length and therefore the lateral play. When stretched, the chain no longer holds adjustment and worn links eventually break. Stabilizer tensioners can seize when their threads rust: replace them before they lock the hitch in a faulty position. An original tensioner matches the tractor's pin diameters.
Hydraulic Tractor Stabilizer: Benefits and Checks
- Adjustment from the driver's seat without leaving the tractor.
- Load adjustment, useful on asymmetrical implements.
- Time-saving during tool changes.
- Check cylinder sealing and the condition of the chrome rod.
- Inspect hoses and the distributor supplying it; see our additional cylinders.
Side Mower Stabilizer and Offset Implements
A side mower operates permanently offset: its arm pushes the hitch to one side for hours on end. The stabilizer then endures constant lateral forces that the lift does not absorb. On such equipment, joints wear faster than on a plow or seed drill. After roadside maintenance season, inspect the stabilizers and their pins, then the lift arms before continuing work.
Tractor Stabilizer by Brand
- John Deere : stabilizers for series 6000, including 6115.
- New Holland : T5, T5050 and TM series.
- Massey Ferguson : one of the most common brands in our stabilizer stock.
- Case IH and Deutz-Fahr : medium-power models.
- Claas , Fendt and McCormick : high-power tractors.
- Valtra and Valmet : series A and T, with manufacturer-specific mounts.
- Kubota : stabilizers available regularly, for tractors and compacts.
- Renault , Same , Ford and Fiat : older tractors.
Micro-Tractor: Stabilizing Chain and Category 1 Hitch
On a micro-tractor, the three-point hitch is category 1, sometimes category 0. Arms are short and rear wheels very close; a lateral play of a few centimeters is enough for an implement to rub the tire. Chain stabilizers and their tensioners remain very common because they offer fine adjustment. Before ordering, note the hitch category, pin diameters, and width between arms: these dimensions vary between micro-tractors, even within the same brand.
Identifying the Correct Stabilizer
- Tractor brand, model, and serial number.
- Hitch category: 1, 2, 3, or 4.
- Length between pins, in retracted and extended positions.
- Pin diameters and bore sizes at both ends.
- Type: rigid, automatic, chain, or hydraulic.
- Mounting side: right or left.
Lift Arms, Support Brackets, Housing: The Complete Lifting Assembly
A worn stabilizer rarely comes alone. Play spreads to the ball joints of the lower arms, support brackets, and lifting housing pins. Take advantage of replacement to check the whole assembly: lift housing, support brackets, and upper arms. Hitch parts complete the chain, from hook to pin. A full refurbishment restores precise hitching for several seasons.
Signs of Stabilizer Wear to Watch For
- Arms move laterally despite tight adjustment.
- Tensioner threads are rusted or seized.
- Stabilizing chain is stretched or links are marked.
- Body is bent after impact with an obstacle.
- Automatic locking no longer holds in raised position.
Used Lifting Parts: TMC Bejenne Expertise
Since 1945, TMC Bejenne has been recovering hitch and lifting parts. On our 11-hectare site, each stabilizer is removed, inspected for thread condition, joints, and straightness, then matched to the original model. Our 25,000 references enable us to fulfill 90% of requests, with shipping throughout France. For a quote, call 05 86 24 00 26.
The three-point hitch comes in categories 0 to 4, depending on tractor power and pin diameter. For traction, there are the hook, clevis, swing bar, and fixed pin. The category determines the stabilizer: a category 2 part cannot be mounted on a category 3 hitch. See our range of used hitch parts.
A lift hitch jerking or pumping in the transport position often indicates low oil level, a clogged filter, or air in the circuit. An internal leak in the cylinder or lift distributor produces the same symptom. Also check the effort control adjustment. Our lifting parts and hydraulic pumps cover these components.
The PTO, or power take-off, is the splined shaft that drives powered implements. It has no mechanical link with the stabilizer, but a poorly stabilized hitch misaligns the driveshaft and wears its universal joints. Find its parts in our range of used PTO components.
Yes, provided they are in good condition and properly adjusted. A healthy stabilizer eliminates lateral play of the arms, protects rear tires, and keeps the implement in the tractor’s track. A worn model, an ovalized slotted bar, or a stretched chain stabilizer lose this effectiveness. On a Massey Ferguson or a Renault , seasonal checks are sufficient to detect play.
The automatic stabilizer saves time when you frequently switch between working and transport positions. The manual model, rigid or chain type, remains simpler and less expensive. On a John Deere or New Holland tractor originally equipped with automatic stabilizers, keep this type as the mount on the axle housing is different.
