The Role of the Dashboard on an Agricultural Tractor
The dashboard, also known as the instrument cluster, gathers information sent by sensors from the engine, transmission, and hydraulic system. It displays the tachometer, hour meter, fuel gauge, engine temperature, and warning lights: oil pressure, load, braking, or air filter clogging. Behind the panel, a printed circuit feeds needles, displays, and backlighting. On agricultural machinery, vibrations, dust, and moisture eventually oxidize the circuits or weaken the soldering, causing most failures.

- New Holland: dashboards from TM 135 tractors and TX 66 combine harvesters.

Dashboard Failure: Instrument, Switch, or Alternator?
Before replacing the dashboard, make sure the fault is actually with it. A worn ignition switch or starter contactor can cut power to the instrument cluster. A faulty gauge can also come from a defective sensor or sensor, a charge warning light on may indicate a failing alternator, and intermittent display issues can result from damaged wiring harness or corroded ground. If power supply, fuses, and connectors are intact and several functions fail simultaneously, the dashboard itself is likely at fault: unreadable screen or display, missing backlight, stuck needles, or condensation behind the glass. On modern machines, the instrumentation also communicates with an electronic control unit: professional diagnostics prevent unnecessary replacement of sound parts.

From a specialist in agricultural dismantling who inspects parts and specifies their original machine. TMC Bejenne dismantles Case IH, New Holland, John Deere, and Massey Ferguson tractors and other agricultural equipment in Naintré. Call 05 86 24 00 26 with the brand, model, and reference of your dashboard: we check availability in our electrical parts stock.
It’s on the manufacturer plate, fixed on the chassis or inside the cab depending on the brand and generation. The number is often recorded on the registration document or purchase papers. Provide it along with the dashboard reference: it’s the safest way to confirm compatibility, for example between close John Deere series.
No. A used dashboard generally keeps the hours recorded from the machine it came from. Note your old hour reading when replacing and keep it in your tractor's maintenance log. Our technicians will clarify this point during the quote process, depending on the model and the relevant electronic board.
The dashboard groups basic instruments: counters, gauges, and warning lights. On recent tractors and combines, a control screen is added to operate transmission, lift, or implements. Both parts have distinct references: specify which you need when you call 05 86 24 00 26.
