Used Additional Hydraulic Cylinder

111 available products

A lift that lowers by itself, a plow struggling to lift at the field edge, or an oil leak along the rod: on a tractor, the additional lift cylinder wears out with time and heavy tools. TMC Bejenne removes additional lift cylinders from tractors undergoing dismantling in Naintré, complete with their pins and clevises. Each cylinder is inspected in our workshop and sold at a reduced price. Related parts are available in our ranges lower arms, lift rods, and stabilizers, as well as throughout the lifting family.

Additional Lift Cylinder: Function on the Tractor

The rear lift raises implements attached via the three-point hitch. On medium and high power tractors, one or two additional cylinders, mounted externally between the axle housing and the lower arms, enhance the lifting capacity of the internal lift. These are single-acting hydraulic cylinders, powered by the tractor's hydraulic system and controlled by the same valve as the lift. Wear on one of the two cylinders causes uneven lifting and overworks the other side.

Tractor Lift Cylinders: Renault, New Holland, Case IH

Each manufacturer sizes their lift cylinders according to the tractor's weight and lift capacity. At New Holland and Case IH, two brands within the CNH group, some cylinders look similar across ranges, but length, diameter, and mounting points vary. Renault tractors, common in France in the Ares and Temis series, use their own references. Always check the manufacturer’s reference engraved on the cylinder body, the closed length, and stroke before ordering: an oversized or undersized cylinder distorts the hitch geometry.

Lift Hydraulic Cylinder: Inspection Points

  • Rod: free from scratches, pitting, or bends.
  • Seals: no leaks along the rod or at the fittings.
  • Body: free from dents or deformations.
  • Ball joints and pins: minimal play at articulation points.
  • Dimensions: closed length, stroke, rod and body diameter, hydraulic fitting.

Price of a Used Additional Lift Cylinder

The price of a used additional cylinder depends on the tractor brand, diameter, and the condition of the rod and seals. It remains significantly lower than the cost of a new manufacturer’s hydraulic cylinder. Since 1945, TMC Bejenne inspects every cylinder taken into stock on its 11-hectare site and offers 25,000 references in its catalog. For other cylinders on tractors — loader, steering, or third hydraulic point — please check our hydraulic cylinder range. For a quote, call 05 86 24 00 26 with the manufacturer’s reference.

An aging hydraulic cylinder leaks along the rod, loses its position under load, or moves in jerks. A scratched or bent rod quickly damages the seals. On a lift, a tool slowly lowering to the ground often indicates a cylinder or valve that no longer holds pressure.

Yes, when the issue is only with the seals: replacing the seals often restores the cylinder’s function. If the rod is scratched, pitted, or bent, or if the body is damaged, repairs usually cost more than a tested, original used cylinder. Our technicians are available for advice at 05 86 24 00 26.

Most often, worn piston seals allow oil to pass between chambers. A faulty valve or distributor, hydraulic circuit leaks, or overheated oil can also be causes. Check the hydraulic circuit before replacing the lift cylinder.

There are three types of cylinders: single-acting, which extend under oil pressure and retract by load; double-acting, which operate in both directions; and telescopic cylinders, with multiple nested tubes, used on dump trailers. Additional lift cylinders are generally single-acting.
