Q: What is the name of the combine's arm?

The combine's arm generally refers to the cutter bar , also called the header or cutting head. It is the front part that cuts the cereals before feeding them into the machine. It includes lateral dividers, a reel, and blades that cut the stalks. Its width varies by model and crop harvested.

Q: Which separation parts wear out the fastest?

Sieves and pre-sieves are among the most worn components, as they endure intense friction with each harvest. The straw walker and straw walker plates also deteriorate quickly, especially on high-capacity machines. Transverse bars and straw walker floor plates require close attention, as their damage directly causes grain losses and reduced yield.

Q: How to choose a compatible separation part?

To find a compatible separation part , first know your combine's brand, exact model, and manufacturing year. The original reference number stamped on the part to replace is also a reliable guide. When in doubt, contacting a specialist avoids installation errors and guarantees the part meets the machine’s technical specifications.

Q: What is the widest cutter bar?

The widest cutter bars available on the market today reach up to 13.7 meters on some high-end models like John Deere 700 series or Claas Convio. For French farms, typical widths range between 6 and 9 meters. The wider the cutter bar, the higher the harvesting rate, but it requires a powerful, suitable combine harvester.

Question 1

What role do separation components play in a combine harvester?

Accepted Answer

Separation components recover the grains still trapped in the straw after the threshing drum. On conventional machines, alternating straw walkers lift and shake the straw to release leftover grains. On axial machines (Case IH Axial-Flow, New Holland CR), the rotor performs this function using centrifugal force.

Question 2

What is the difference between a conventional and an axial combine harvester?

Accepted Answer

The conventional combine features a transverse threshing drum followed by alternating straw walkers for separation. The axial combine uses one or two longitudinal rotors performing threshing and separation simultaneously by centrifugal force. Axial machines offer higher harvesting capacity but chop the straw more — an important factor for farms utilizing straw as bedding.

Question 3

How to detect excessive grain loss behind the combine harvester?

Accepted Answer

The most reliable method is to check the grain spilled behind the machine (on the ground or the chopper). A handful of soil collected behind the machine should contain only a few grains per square meter. Higher losses indicate either incorrect adjustment (excess harvest speed, improper concave clearance) or wear of the straw walkers or separation parts.

Question 4

Is a used combine harvester straw walker reliable?

Accepted Answer

Yes, provided it comes from an identified machine and was inspected before shipping. The straw walker is a structural part that does not gradually wear until failure — it fails by fatigue of axles or articulation points. A used part in good condition offers fully satisfactory reliability for one or more harvesting seasons.

Question 5

How to identify the correct straw walker reference for my combine?

Accepted Answer

Provide the brand, exact model (e.g., Claas Lexion 540, New Holland CX 880), and manufacturing year. The manufacturer’s catalog number (found in the parts manual) is the most reliable identifier. Without a reference, our technicians match the part based on model and year.

Question 6

What is the function of the separation mechanism?

Accepted Answer

The separation mechanism is the third step in the harvesting process of a combine harvester. Its role is to perform a first sorting of grain by separating it from the straw after threshing. Composed of parts such as the straw walker, sieves, or rotary separator, it directs straw to the exit while retrieving remaining grain for the cleaning system.

Question 7

What is the name of the combine's arm?

Accepted Answer

The combine's arm generally refers to the cutter bar, also called the header or cutting head. It is the front part that cuts the cereals before feeding them into the machine. It includes lateral dividers, a reel, and blades that cut the stalks. Its width varies by model and crop harvested.

Question 8

Which separation parts wear out the fastest?

Accepted Answer

Sieves and pre-sieves are among the most worn components, as they endure intense friction with each harvest. The straw walker and straw walker plates also deteriorate quickly, especially on high-capacity machines. Transverse bars and straw walker floor plates require close attention, as their damage directly causes grain losses and reduced yield.

Question 9

How to choose a compatible separation part?

Accepted Answer

To find a compatible separation part, first know your combine's brand, exact model, and manufacturing year. The original reference number stamped on the part to replace is also a reliable guide. When in doubt, contacting a specialist avoids installation errors and guarantees the part meets the machine’s technical specifications.

Question 10

What is the widest cutter bar?

Accepted Answer

The widest cutter bars available on the market today reach up to 13.7 meters on some high-end models like John Deere 700 series or Claas Convio. For French farms, typical widths range between 6 and 9 meters. The wider the cutter bar, the higher the harvesting rate, but it requires a powerful, suitable combine harvester.

Question 11

Why buy used separation parts?

Accepted Answer

Choosing used separation parts can significantly reduce maintenance costs for a combine harvester, often used over a short harvest period. Savings can reach several tens of percent compared to new parts. Provided you buy from a specialist who inspects the condition of each component prior to sale, used parts offer excellent value for farmers mindful of budgets.

Question 12

How to order a separation part from TMC Bejenne?

Accepted Answer

To place an order, simply contact the TMC Bejenne team by phone or via the contact form on the website. Provide your combine’s brand and model, and if possible, the part reference to replace. Technicians will identify the suitable used part in stock and assist you through to delivery.
