Q: What is the function of an auger screw on a combine harvester?

The auger screw is the central element of a combine harvester's unloading system. It ensures the rapid evacuation of grain stored in the hopper to a trailer or cart. Thanks to its continuous spiral rotation, it transports grain from the bottom of the hopper to the discharge tube. On recent models, flow rates can reach 120 liters per second.

Q: Is it reliable to buy a used auger screw?

Yes, provided you buy from a specialist in used agricultural parts like TMC Bejenne, which inspects every part before sale. A used auger screw in good condition offers performance comparable to a new part, at a much lower price. The key is to verify compatibility with your combine harvester model as well as the condition of the spirals and bearings.

Q: How can I identify the auger screw compatible with my machine?

To find the correct reference , start by noting your combine harvester’s exact make and model from the maintenance log or the manufacturer's plate. The dimensions of the auger screw—especially its length and diameter—vary by manufacturer: a Claas Lexion doesn't have the same measurements as a John Deere S series. If in doubt, TMC Bejenne specialists can quickly assist you by phone at +33 5 35 54 42 10 .

Q: What are the delivery times for a used auger screw?

Used auger screws available at TMC Bejenne are in stock and can be shipped very quickly after order confirmation. Delivery times vary depending on your location in France and the chosen carrier, but receipt within a few working days is generally feasible. To know the exact availability of a part and precise delivery time, contact the team at +33 5 35 54 42 10 .

Q: How do I maintain my auger screw to extend its lifespan?

Regular maintenance of the auger screw primarily involves lubricating the bearings and pivot points, following the manufacturer's recommendations. Checking the condition of the seals after each season helps prevent moisture infiltration, which accelerates spiral corrosion. Cleaning the auger screw after use to avoid grain residue buildup also limits premature wear of moving parts.

Question 1

What is the function of an auger screw on a combine harvester?

Accepted Answer

The auger screw is the central element of a combine harvester's unloading system. It ensures the rapid evacuation of grain stored in the hopper to a trailer or cart. Thanks to its continuous spiral rotation, it transports grain from the bottom of the hopper to the discharge tube. On recent models, flow rates can reach 120 liters per second.

Question 2

What are the signs of wear on an auger screw?

Accepted Answer

Several indicators reveal an auger screw in poor condition. A significant decrease in discharge flow rate is often the first warning sign to monitor. Abnormal noises during rotation, such as grinding or knocking, usually indicate failing bearings or damaged spirals. Grain leaks at the seals or repeated blockages during unloading phases confirm that replacement is urgently needed.
