How does a tractor’s front axle work?

The front axle supports the front of the machine and provides steering. On a 4-wheel-drive tractor, it also receives the gearbox movement via a shaft and transfer case, then distributes it to the wheels through the bevel gear, differential, drive shafts, and reduction gears. Kingpins allow the wheels to steer while remaining driven.

Can a Carraro front axle kingpin fit multiple brands?

Yes, since the same Carraro, ZF, or Dana axle can equip tractors from different brands, such as certain Deutz-Fahr , Same , or Massey Ferguson models. Compatibility depends on the exact axle reference. Send us the axle plate details: our technicians verify compatibility before shipping.

Should bushings be replaced at the same time as the kingpin?

It is recommended. A kingpin reinstalled with worn bushings or bearings will quickly develop play. Take the chance during removal to replace seals, boots, and bushings, then adjust play with the original shims.

Upper or lower kingpin, right or left: how to identify?

On some axles, upper and lower kingpins differ, as do right and left sides. Indicate the part’s position and attach a photo to your quote request at +33 5 35 54 42 10: TMC Bejenne confirms the correct part before shipment.
